Anxiety

A little anxiety is not necessarily bad. Sometimes it can even propel us to do well on the things we care about such as a job interview, test, presentation, or meeting a new person. Anxiety is often an indication that we care. Many high-performers would probably say their anxiety is one of the reasons behind their success.

Anxiety is generally a result of an overestimation of risk and an underestimation of the ability to cope.

anxiety

What does that mean? It means that we end up spending so much time worrying about or avoiding something, we forget to recognize that even if the worst case scenario happened, we probably would survive. In the moment, when our anxiety is high, this can be really hard to see. With practice, you can begin to identify the situations that make you anxious and apply and practice skills to help you manage your anxiety.
